Five years of witnessing Women’s groups and words like these - shared in Sisterhood - are as familiar as my own hands.

When she speaks them, I know she will feel that she’s revealing a deep secret.

I know she will be stunned to find that the super successful badass with the perfect thighs next to her is often thinking the exact same things and has been for most of whole life.

I know that every other woman will nod automatically - her body saying yes yes yes - when she sees the mirror of her own exhaustion, grief, fear, heartbreak and rage.

I know they will also cheer her on wildly when she admits her desires, her passion, her poetry, her opinions, her story.

Women are so generous when we know we’re safe.

I’ve seen this pattern of a woman liberated over and over again.

But it never gets old.

Like a rainbow never gets old.

I always want to see who she will be the day after such an experience.

How she will walk.

Who she will touch.

What she will do - or not do.

How she will feel empowered.

And shy.

Brave.

Vulnerable.

And lit up.
